Biography
Dr Zoheir Ali Esmail began his Islamic education studying Arabic at the University of Damascus while studying introductory hawza studies at the Hazwa of Imam Kumayni in the Sayyida Zaynab (as) area. He then continued his hawza studies in London and also gained an MA in the Islamic sciences from Middlesex University. He then moved to Iran to pursue his studies at a deeper level gaining an MA in Islamic Mysticism from the hawza of Imam al-Khumayni in Qum and a doctorate from the University of Exeter with the thesis title: Between Philosophy and Irfan: Interpreting Mulla Sadra from the Qajars to Post-Revolutionary Iran. He currently spends most of his time teaching at various institutions and has a private tuition business. His research interests include all aspects of Shīʿī studies, Qurʾānic hermeneutics and mysticism.
