The module develops competence in Arabic Morphology (‘Ilm al-Ṣarf), the branch of Arabic grammar that deals with the form and structure of words. It empowers students to recognise words and their associated meanings, and to build words that will effectively convey the meaning they have in mind. It also explores a full range of morphological structures and patterns of verbs and nouns, with particular emphasis on words used in the Qur’an and other classical Islamic literature.
