Moral Philosophy and Islamic Ethics

This introductory course deals with the main problems of moral philosophy including metaethical issues and normative ethical theories. The first part of each session focuses on the current debates on the issue and the second part examines the relevant Islamic views. There are a multitude of books and papers related to this course but our emphasis will be on the following books:

About the lecturer:

 

Dr Mohsen Javadi is currently a professor at the Ethics Department in the University of Qom. He received his MA in theology from the University of Qom (1994) and his PhD in philosophy from University of Tehran (1999).  He has written extensively on philosophical issues and has published six books and more than 50 papers in Farsi. Some of his Farsi publications have been translated into other languages.
