ISC100 – Islamic Thought

This module aims to examine fundamental doctrines of Islamic thought as developed during the centuries under the all-encompassing term kalam. Classical Kalam debates centered around a number of theological issues including God’s names and qualities, free will and determinism, reason and revelation, ethics, and political philosophy. The module will examine these issues within the larger context of Islamic thought and try to follow the arguments in their historical context.
