Why a believer rather than a non believer

Course Overview

In modern times many militant atheist thinkers and activists have tried to promote the idea that religions, as well as religious ways of life, are one of the main, if not the main, source of evil in the social arena. Some other non-believer scholars, while taking a respectful approach towards religions and religious people, maintain that it is more rational for people and communities to adopt a non-religious outlook on life and become members of the community of non-believers.

Course Objectives

In this talk, the above claims will be critically assessed, and it will be explained why certain interpretations of religion, and in particular, the Islamic faith, give an edge to believers over non-believers. The upshot of the arguments which will be presented in the talk is that in the light of these interpretations, individuals would be better off being believers rather than non-believers.

This programme was developed and is delivered and assessed by The Islamic College.
