Visitation to Rome - Sara Abidi
In November 2025, Sara Abidi, a faculty member at The Islamic College, had an opportunity to visit the Vatican City along with an inter-faith group, and, as the representative of the Islamic College, have a meeting with the Pope. This recent excursion was highlighted by a profoundly magnificent experience at the Papal Audience, characterised by an electrifying atmosphere as groups of pilgrims and visitors from across the world united in the chant of ‘Viva Papa!’ The formal proceedings commenced with the recognition of the diverse international groups, followed by the main service, which was conducted in six languages to honour the global character of the Catholic Church.
Sara Abidi says, “A major highlight was the subsequent meeting granted to us with His Holiness Pope Leo—a truly inspiring and unforgettable moment. We concluded at the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, where we engaged in a stimulating discussion focusing on the expansive scope of faith across global communities and gained valuable insight into the Church’s dedication to fostering mutual understanding.”
