Our vision is to be a distinctive and trusted contributor to higher education in the field of Islamic Studies, provide a specialist academic institute that combines focused expertise with high standards, intellectual independence, uncompromising measures of academic integrity, foster a high-quality environment for both research and teaching, welcoming academically affiliated and independent researchers alike, who seek to acquire or further develop a solid and in-depth understanding of the diverse field of Islamic Studies, and make a genuine commitment to the success of our students and wider academic community.

As a lean, agile and niche provider, we do not seek to replicate the scale or breadth of larger institutions. Instead, our mission is to offer a clearly defined and academically purposeful educational experience in the areas where we have particular expertise. This includes, though does not exhaust, novel ways of placing Islamic Studies within the larger framework of the Humanities and Social Sciences, while at the same time producing new ways of synthesising traditional outlook with modern perspectives. We believe that our size and specialist focus can be strengths, enabling closer engagement, greater responsiveness and a stronger sense of academic community.
