HSD223 – Muslims in the West

The interaction between Islam and the West is as old as Islam itself. From the Muslim presence in Spain (Andalusia) to the spread of Islam in Asia Minor and the Balkans, European history is replete with Islamic influences. This influence was later extended to the American continent. This module aims to look at the rich history of the interaction between Muslims and the West and build a context for the predicted increase in this realm; and develop the communication of ideas on key issues as related to Muslim communities in the West.
