This module aims to introduce the student to the various rulings and opinions on key issues in Islamic ritual law with the purpose of familiarizing them with the basic mechanisms that govern the lives of many Muslims throughout the world. Since all the variety of opinions cannot be highlighted emphasis is put on the five major schools of law (Hanafi, Maliki, Hanbali, Shafi’i and Ja’fari or Imami), although some of the significant differences of opinion on some issues may be pointed to amongst schools other than these.
